Olympic Champion SAMUEL WANJIRU Caught By Wife Cheating, Jumps off Balcony

The Late Wanjiru after winning the Olympic Gold

Fresh details have emerged following the death of Kenya’s sole Olympic Marathon Champion, Samuel Wanjiru.

Wanjiru, 24, died on the wee hours of Monday the 16th May after he allegedly fell off the Balcony of his three storey house in Nyahururu.

However, Mombasa411 has reliably pieced together the details leading to his death following a phone conversation from the Central Provincial police Boss Jaspher Ombati.

Beijing Olympics....Winning The Gold

Jaspher Ombati, said Wanjiru appeared to have suffered internal injuries after the fall and was confirmed dead by doctors at a nearby hospital.

“I can confirm that Wanjiru is dead. It is not yet clear whether it was a suicide or if he jumped out of rage, or what caused him to fall to the ground,” Ombati told Reuters.

“He jumped from his first floor balcony to the ground. He was bleeding from the nose and the mouth, and may have suffered internal injuries,” the police chief said.

Ombati said police were investigating a possible love triangle that could have been behind the death of Wanjiru, a former winner of the Chicago and London marathons

Happier Times....Wanjiru with Wife, Trizah Njeri

Ombati said the athlete’s wife Triza Njeri had come home to find Wanjiru in bed with another woman, had locked the couple in the bedroom and ran outside.

Wanjiru then leapt from the balcony, he said.

Ombati said Njeri and Wanjiru’s female companion are assisting police in investigating the death.

Sources indicate that  Wanjiru spent the day drinking at a Pub in Nakuru in Kenya’s Rift Valley province and later headed home to Nyahururu.

It is further said he took his last meal at  a place called Tas in the town before he took home a prostitute named ‘Martha’.

It is said his wife then caught the two lovebirds before an argument ensued between the wife and the call girl.

The Wife then closed the door from the outside and ran away fearing a beating from the visibly angry and drunk Wanjiru.

Wanjiru then leapt to death by jumping from the window at third floor.

Police say, either, he was too drunk and leaped to death, Or he was pushed out by the call girl or he made an error in judgement as a result of being drunk and/or panic and underestimated the distance to the ground from the balcony.

The call girl has been arrested and is helping the Police with the investigations.

Last December, Wanjiru was charged in court with threatening to kill Njeri and illegal possession of an AK-47 assault rifle.

Njeri later withdrew her accusation of attempted murder against him in court, saying the couple had reconciled.

He also suffered minor injuries from a car crash in January when he swerved to avoid an oncoming truck, hit a pot hole and rolled his car.

Wanjiru defied the heat of Beijing in 2008 to triumph in an Olympic record time at the games held in China.

As a young man, Wanjiru moved to Japan in 2002 to attend high school after winning a cross country selection trial in Kenya.

It’s sad to know of his death per sa but the question is where is the law to take its course even if we may not like what law has in store for us coz as an advocate i proclaim that regular law is free from all arbitrariness an will always be supreme.Desert theory of criminality talks of ”an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” that is Wanjiru was a criminal(he attempted to murder triza) and so he met his death through crime of some kind. Now that he is long gone, let us learn that we cannot live on the pleasures brought about by money alone we desparately need God to give us direction and grace.Lets us not lean on our own understanding it is always out of track.Hero but of criminal mind so no more of a victor but a disappointment to those who truly loved him.Kenyans kenyans i would urge u to simply follow God’s guidance that we shall not be envious of the wicked nor should we admire their ways. Lets be wise and remain safe!!!!!

  4. its really evil and malicious to try and state that wanjiru commited suicide, its a bad act, because it only potrays how kenyans we are most especially the police and in particular jasper ombati, according to the autopsy conducted on wanjiru’s body its evident that the young and patriotic kenyan was murdered how can an autopsy state that he has injuries on the head arm hands and stomach then doctors confirm that he might have been hit by a blunt object? Triza njeri should come out and tell us the truth of what actually transpired and the police should move @ a supersonic speed to arrest triza njeri, the barmaid and the watchman charge them with first account of murder, and second account giving false message to the police as for our fellow comrade and patriotic kenyan late samuel kamau wanjiru you served your country kenya with a lot of devotion and hard work we loved you but God loved you more rest in peace my brother

Women will push / chase rich men to points which are ussually very irresistable and tempting. All what they are ussually after is there cash. I wont say wanjiru was adulterous as portrayed by some . It was temptations which were beyond control. I hate women because of the way they adore money . They just wait for men to work for them . shame on you.

  19. A lesson to the living, for Wanjiru it is too late, the “wages of sin is death, and after death judgement” Each one of us should ask ourselves, when our time comes what will people say? For Wanjiru that was his weaskness, maybe for you it is jealousy, or greed, or being too mean that you can not help those genuine needy members of your family. My sincere condolences to the legitimate widow. To those other side dishes see what you have done to a young life young family, thanks to you Wanjiru’s daughter will not know the father. Repent!

I blame the mother for not guiding Wanjiru to devote himself to Christ. If you get money, so much Money like what Wanjiru had. You need even a bigger grace. You need christ like never before. You ignore Him at your own Peril.

Let someone reason with me, would you applaud him after what he did? second was he justified to come with a prostitute to his matrimonial home? Thirdly don’t you think his wife loved him so very much to even go abroad mile withdrawing a case of attempted murder filed against him?
I beg your pardon all, Trizar was running for her dear life. I will be waiting for the police investigations………but before then give Trizah a piece of her mind.

  27. Its quite a sad day for the world to loose such a talented young athlete to alcohol. I wish Kenyan athletes could do more to the society by establishing trusts in sports, education, rehabilitation of druggies, alcoholics and other social activities that they could be remembered for upon leaving this world. We only hear of them when they win medals and caught up in circumstances as Wanjiru was. Most kenyan athletes are not visible publicly. Their managers must create a brand around them but involving them in charititable activities. Great athletes like Kipchoge keino have remained relevant to this day because of promoting athletic activities to this day despite him being an olympiad in the 1960’s. He is a legend and will leave a legacy that shall be remembered by many for decades to come. Unfortunately Wanjiru’s name will disappear in our memories within a short time and his remembarance will not be because of his athletic exploits but for all the wrong reasons.
