This policeman won’t be home for Christmas.
This brave cop, won’t kiss his baby goodnight, no more.
This cop, even in death, vowed not to let his gun fall into the wrong hands…he died clutching it.
He died protecting you and me.
The policeman was shot dead by gangsters in Mombasa’s Bondeni area.
And as we all get ready to celebrate and make merry this festive season, remember the people who are out there in the streets…making the streets safer for you and me.
Let’s remember the men and women in uniform, who leave their families and risk their lives protecting us.
This December, Mombasa411 challenges you our dear reader: When you come across a cop, be it on the highway, around the corner mtaani kwenu, ama anywhere in town….do this – take off your hat, pigia yeye makofi, and tell him/her how much his/her presence means to you.
And why not, you can even buy him a Kilo of Nyama Choma apelekee watoto.
That’s the spirit.
Mombasa411 salutes our police.
Merry Christmas to the Men and Women wearing the crown.
Amazing blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid
option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

Day by day I think of you,
How can all of this be true?
I can’t believe you’re really gone,
I still can’t accept it,
Even after so long.
Just the thought of you makes me cry,
I never even got the chance to say goodbye.
Every picture, every letter,
I don’t know if it will ever get better.
I always smell your familiar scent,
It makes me think of all of the times we’ve spent.
I know we didn’t always get along,
And every time we talked, it would always go wrong.
So many things I never got to say,
I never imagined you’d ever be so far away.
You were my brother,
And I loved you like no other.
In my heart you’ll always be
REST IN PEACE

It is so sad that even here in America we have to have police officers to keep us safe. If we could do the things that our JESUS ask us to do and that is to love everyone as much as we love our selves then there would be no sins here in the world. We would not need guns or knives to kill people & we would not have wars. Can we try to just love each other, try it for a year and see how much better life can be. Bring the LORD home with you and see what happens to your heart.Take HIM to church with you and let HIM give the sermon..There would be peace all over the church & the rest of the city..Yes lets pray for the police men and any one that you run in to.. In JESUS name ,I love you all. .<3.<3.

This is a man just like you and i, a father, a son, a husband, a provider, a protector, a guardian. Let’s acknowledge each other, pay for each other, see beyond the uniform and whatever prejudices you may have against it and realize each one of us is doing the best he can under the circumstances.
I empathize and feel sad that a life, a valuable life, a man who means the world to many and puts himself at risk and jeopardy for the sake and safety of others should be lost like that. Let’s take the time to appreciate each other because that could be any one of us.
Once again pray and pray hard for each other, for divine protection and most of all that we may regain the meaning of life. Because such a heinous act only goes to show we are but a strand away from living like animals…with no purpose at all!

The human life in this nation has reached a level in which it is valued lower than that of one single peanut. We have tolerated so much disregard for the human life, through greed that places human life below the sacred. There was a time when even the rogue of all rogues, when the thieves of all thieves, when the maniacs or all maniacs found life to be sunctified. Not any more with individuals watching videos that show drug abuse, prostitutions, violence and perverted sexual indulgences as the fad! Young people can no longer separate the reality from the sureal, the reality from the commmercial, the reality from the innocent expression in the name of art mimicking life! Its a sad day in the history of our life when even in the forces there are the honest hard working cobs and their colleagues who in the discharge of their duties are bertrayed by their very own for a nickel or shekel. How very sad. Indeed my heart bleeds for the cop who lays there prostrate….a son of a woman and man, a brother and husban d to another, a father who had dreams probably to be the next Commissioner General, wasted by individuals who could have easily taken what they need and spared a sacred life, who could have shown honor even in their trade by shotting to immobilize but never to play God. Yet we know those that bring others to death by the sword, shall they too leave the earth by the sword and that sword be a gun so shall it be they will leave by the gun. May the anger that is being expressed find a way of targetting the ones that desreve it and may our children not be tormented to veagence that may be indicriminate from sheer anger. Oooh Lord help this nation. It is totatlly lacking in discipline, respect for life, its totally headed for self implosion when the ones who should care, careless, when the ones who should lead are clueless and when the ones who should boldly step out and say something remain cowardly faceless. Oooh Lord help our children who will cry for them and who will protect them?
Farewell thee my protector may your family know it was not in vain.

What you suggest we do is good but will not save any life. Remember even when a cop shoots a thieve dead, that is lost life in the eyes of all of us n those of God. The best thing to do is be the positive change in the society and then bring the change to others in the society. Personally I have helped change a petty offender (pick pocket) and drunkard to a resourceful green grocer who is independent and is able to support his younger sis’ schooling. If he could have progressed to an armed robber, I don’t know and we will never know since even him the changed man does not know or even think about it. The point here is no one is born a thief or want to be a thief wen they grow up. The society is the one that has failed. Us guys who are well to do in the society do not always respect the poor n less fortunate thus are not willing to be understanding or lend a helping hand. An example is when we are rude to matatu touts (who I accept are generally rude but this is their self defense. think over that*). They are hard working an wake up early in the morning to ensure u get to work & in return earn a living. What we are very good at is insulting them and telling them they refused to be educated or a fovourite one for many of us is that “ten bob ni kitu ndogo sana kwangu na ndiyo maana huwezi tajirika mwizi wewe!” Remember he woke up @ 5an to go to work. This in effect is demoralizing and inhumane. To cut the long story short, my desire is to have a society that does not need policing, one that people love and respect their neighbour. Don’t forget that police also take innocent lives too, whether stray bullets negligence, deals gone sour, executions etc. No life should be lost this way. Criminal reform also. be part of positive change

If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. I always believe that bad things happen to bad people.
This cop might have killed an innocent father. Then the same happened to him.
He probably diverted the course of justice to suit a man who had money.
Or something worse.
I agree that cops are good in watching out for us.
But they go way too far in taking advantage of citizens.
They harass young jobless men asking for money.
They leave the drug peddlers alone and go to harass innocent citizens.
And I am full of spite for every cop that makes a citizen suffer.
Every cop that bears false witness,
Deserves to die!!!

i am just so gutted by that photo. Good grief. Just know that we live with animals who wear trousers(thugs), and the guys in uniform live a life of sacrifice. Every cop who carries a firearm knows that he is a marked man,and danger may lurk at any corner. May God rest the soul of this brave soldier in peace. And may you spare a thought and a prayer for our brothers and sisters in uniform.

I’m sure this cop will be carried from here and burried at his home without a single penny for his family.e.g My elder bro was gunned down by gangsters after serving six years in the force, later,he was burried and his family left penniless, desperate and poor. The govt should at least insure our cops coz their job borders on any eventuality.

Its sad to loose someone in this manner but the police kill innocent Kenyans daily a few weeks ago policemen killed a father and his son who was to join form 1 next year. I believe that if you live by the gun you gonna die by the gun lets stop being hypocrites let them feel the pain that all Kenyans whose family members have died in the hands of policemen have felt.

Cops are humans too. Yes they make mistakes at times outragers one at that. But we need them out there every day and minute. Not all cops are trigger happy. Cops do not live by the gun, its their tool of trade which is to protect not cos hurm to innocent people. So living by the gun can only apply to rog cop and thurgs. Unless i do not understand the saying….

Because of you and i, the policeman risked his life so that we can be safe and at the end all we can say to then is nothing, even just to thank them is a problem. We view them as a enemies, yes a number of them aren’t good people since they harass civilians, but to the responsible police person Bravo and God bless you.

Those of us who have been in the Police Force must be in the frontline to say “No to crime; no to shedding innocent blood!” May God richly bless the Security Forces in Kenya and keep them safe and saved. They are our brothers, our sons, our mothers, our sisters, our fathers……………….. our very own blood. Wanakula mpaka Compo 10. Dear Mombasa 411
The use of such a graphic image in this article is an insult to the same police officers you salute.
The officer died in the line of duty and does not deserve to have his image plastered over the internet. He dererves honour and respect. This man has family, relatives and loved ones who will never appreciate the image used carelessly.
Do the right thing. Honour the officer and his family. Take it off please.

I beg to differ. Only when we put faces to numbers and names do we let people know that indeed Police officers are real humans who can be hurmed or killed and that it accutualy happening. May the Good Lord command His Angles concerning All our Officers.

Dear Lord, be with me on my beat
This day and every day.
Grant that each weary block I walk,
May ease a brothers way.
Let me be kindly to the old
And to the young, be strong
But let me triumph over those
Whose acts are cruel and wrong.
And if according to your plan,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife.
